Allied Bombing of Dresden

The Allied raids on Dresden (February 13–15, 1945), when RAF and USAAF heavy bombers dropped more than 3,900 tons of high-explosive and incendiary bombs, creating a firestorm that destroyed over 1,600 acres (6.5 km²) of the city center; three follow-up USAAF raids targeted rail and industrial areas in March and April. The true death toll is unknown’much more, but I’ll go with the “official, verified” Allied number 22,700–25,000 (postwar historical consensus from the 2010 Dresden Historical Commission) — so no one can accuse me of exaggerating.
