๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ฑ ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ธ King David Hotel Bombing (1946)

On July 22, 1946, the zionist paramilitary group irgun, led by Menachem Begin (later israeli Prime Minister), carried out a bombing of the King David Hotel in Jerusalem, which served as the British administrative headquarters during the Mandate for Palestine. Irgun members disguised as Arabs delivered milk churns filled with explosives to the basement, resulting in the deaths of 91 people and injuring 46 more.

Irgun described the operation as “retaliation for British crackdowns on jewish militants and aimed at forcing Britain to withdraw from Palestine.” The attack was widely condemned internationally as terrorism at the time, but is largely ignored now.
