Human Rights Watch claims in a new report published Wednesday that an increasing number of young boys are being forced into gangs out of desperation because they have no food, shelter, or money otherwise.
While boys are trained to use munitions and work as informants, girls are kidnapped, raped, and forced to cook and clean for gang members; the report alleges – with social media apps a popular source of recruitment.
The UN estimates about a third of gang members in Haiti are now children.
