The Black Sun/”Wheel” (Schwarze Sonne) w/Sig Rune: ᛋᛋ (“SS”) – Brief Summary

The Sig rune, derived from the Younger Futhark ᛋ, was reinterpreted by Guido von List as a symbol of victory and later adopted by the SS in a double form resembling lightning bolts, designed by Walter Heck in 1933. This emblem symbolized both the initials “SS” and the slogan “Victory, Victory!” It became strongly associated with Nazi Germany, leading to its discontinuation in military and commercial use due to its controversial legacy. Originally linked to the sun and victory in Germanic tradition, it has also been used in esoteric contexts and, controversially, in modern branding.

The Black Sun/”Wheel” (Schwarze Sonne) is a circular symbol made of twelve Sig runes, originally part of a mosaic floor in Wewelsburg Castle, renovated by the SS under Heinrich Himmler during Nazi Germany.
