The German, “Schienenzeppelin” (rail zeppelin)


The Schienenzeppelin was an experimental German railcar, designed and built by engineer Franz Kruckenberg in 1929. Resembling a Zeppelin airship on rails, it was powered by a large rear-facing propeller and a BMW aircraft engine (V12), reaching a record-setting speed of 143 mph (230 km/h) in 1931.
